Grandma Fields brought me to visit Mom at CIW. I had just turned four. She dressed me in a white dress that twirled with matching white socks and black Mary Janes that made a click-clack sound when I walked over the prison floor. I listened to the sound echo through the long fluorescent hallways, bouncing off the metal doors and sterile walls until Grandma picked me up.
